Polarite™ For superior impact strength and modulus in polyamides
- Excellent dimensional stability
- Superior rigidity and impact strength
- Significantly reduced warpage and shrinkage
Imerys’ Polarite™ range is used in polyamides (PA) to enhance key performance requirements such as dimensional stability, rigidity and impact strength while reducing warpage and shrinkage of the molding.

Improved tensile strength and flexural modulus
In tests on a 30 wt% polyamide, adding Imerys Polarite™ to polyamide (PA) significantly improves the tensile and flexural modulus.
The more platy, hydrous kaolin based Polarite™ 902A provides the best performance, similar to other leading platy minerals.
Significantly better impact strength
Compared to other common platy mineral fillers used to improve flexural and tensile modulus, the Polarite™ range provides significantly better impact strength in PA, with improving notched Charpy impact strength compared to unfilled polyamide. Strength increases as particle size decreases.
Amino-silane surface-treated calcined kaolin
The amino-silane surface-treated calcined kaolin provides excellent impact strength performance and increased tensile and flexural modulus.
Surface-treated hydrous kaolin
Platy hydrous kaolin which has been surface-treated with an amino-silane coupling agent provides the greatest tensile and flexural modulus of the Polarite™ range, similar to other platy minerals. It also confers improved impact strength.
